Sri Lankan Tamil parties turn down invite

12th August 2012 08:27 AM

Sri Lankan Tamil parties will not be attending the Tamil Eelam Supporters Organization’s conference to be held in Chennai on Sunday.

Mavai Senathirajah, MP and a top leader of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA), told Express here on Saturday that his party had written to the DMK leader, M Karunanidhi, giving reasons for not attending.

“We have told him that circumstances in Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu are not conducive for our participation. But we made it clear that the TNA was not against Karunanidhi. We are aware that Karunanidhi can do a lot for us. But a pre-requisite for doing anything for us is unity amongst our supporters in Tamil Nadu,” Senathirajah said.

DNF leader Mano Ganeshan said he was not attending because Karunanidhi had not been sincere in his pronouncements on the Lankan Tamil question.

Yes..how can they face their Sinhalese brothers in Sri Lanka if they took part in a summit which calls for the creation of a seperate Tamil state (Ealam) By the way...why can't Karunanidi create an Ealam in Tamilnadu..????,where there are far more Tamils than Sri Lanka's North & East ...

What is this, It looks like Sri Lanka Tamils dont want Ezaham, only we are trying to get Ezaham in Siri Lanka. It is best that we stop worrying about them and get independence here.
