A Russian powerlifting champion has died in a car crash, the National Powerlifting Association said Wednesday.
Evgeny Fedyakin, 32, was a former Russian national champion and had won a Russian Cup event this year as well as a World Cup medal previously.
He was a passenger in a Toyota car that collided with a truck Monday near the Siberian town of Berdsk where he had won the regional title at the weekend. The driver of the car was also killed.
"The tragedy happened the day after the Novosibirsk Region Cup, where Evgeny took first place," National Powerlifting Association vice-president Vitaly Dubrovin said.
