Stepping up its agitation against the ruling AIADMK in Tamil Nadu over the arrest of its leaders, opposition DMK today said it would hold state-wide public meetings from June 28.
A statement from DMK propaganda secretaries A Raja and Tiruchi N Siva said party chief M Karunanidhi, his son MK Stalin, Kanimozhi, MP, general secretary K Anbazhagan and themselves, among others, will address the meetings to explain the recent Executive Committee decision to conduct 'jail bharo' on July 4 protesting the arrest of DMK leaders.
Karunanidhi will address a meeting at suburban Tambaram on July 1, the statement added.
The leaders will explain the Executive Committee resolution to hold jail bharo against ruling AIADMK "foisting" cases against senior DMK leaders, including former Minister Veerapandi S Arumugam who was recently detained under the stringent Goondas Act.
Various DMK leaders have been facing landgrab charges.
