DMK today strongly criticised Sri
Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa for ruling out greater
political autonomy for Tamils, saying India should at least
"wake up" now and help secure their livelihood and democratic
rights.
"Rajapaksa has failed to honour the promise given to
India and other global organisations for long on granting
political autonomy with the latest announcement which should
be condemned," DMK chief M Karunanidhi said in a statement.
Addressing the 65th Independence Day celebrations on
Monday, the Sri Lankan President had ruled out greater
political autonomy for Tamils, saying ethnicity-based division
was "not practical" as people live together in unity and there
were no racial or religious differences.
"It has become historically evident that none of the
promises made on behalf of the Sinhalese to the Tamils have
been fulfilled," Karunanidhi said.
"Knowing the true intentions of Rajapaksa, India should
at least wake up now and with the help of the international
organisations, protect Sri Lankan Tamils, their livelihood and
democratic rights", he said.

At least now Mr. Karunanidhi should take a decision to quit from UPA and withdraw DMK's support to UPA in Parliament for the sake of Tamils, if he is a true Tamilian. Even Mr. Vaiko is requesting him to do the same.

Karunanithi will wake up for Srilankan tamils when he is in opposition. But Congress will always help killing Tamils in Srilanka by supporting the Sinhala govt by all means. Even now India is protecting Rajapakse from war crime trial. All leaders would face and pay the price. Nature is like that, what you sow today, you will reap tomorrow. All Congress leaders including in Tamilnadu leaders apart from Karuna have accumulated sin enough for their generations. Karuna, as usual will play politics even with dead bodies of Srilankan Tamils. He may get assurance from another minister from center and accept and keep quiet. Because he is innocent and still using feeding bottle to drink milk.

"Nature is like that, what you sow today, you will reap tomorrow." Very true. Exactly what happened to the LTTE and Srilankan Tamils.

MK can not do anything for the suffering Tamilians in sri Lanka. In fact, he has done nothing till now, except converting the issue into vote bank politics which back fired in 2011. It is only the people of Tamil Nadu to put pressure on the government at the center to act upon. When MK has betrayed the people who voted him to power; how can one expect him that he would do good to the freedom of Tamilians in Sri Lanka ? It is unfortunate that we have had a CM like him. God! Save this country from the cruelty of politicians like MK.
