Alagiri furious over Karunanidhi's succession plan, says DMK is not a 'mutt'

Fissures re-emerged in DMK after party chief M Karunanidhi hinted that Stalin would lead the party after him with his elder son M K Alagiri today saying that DMK is not a "mutt" to appoint successor.

"DMK is not a mutt," was Alagiri's response when reporters approached him at the airport here to seek his reaction to Karunanidhi's statement that Stalin would succeed him.

Alagiri recalled that his father himself had said "DMK is not a Sankara Mutt".

Addressing party workers yesterday, Karunanidhi gave the clearest ever hint, saying "I will work for the cause of uplift of the society till death. So, for the question who after me, the answer is Stalin who is sitting amongst you and you should not forget it."

The 88-year-old leader had more than once given enough hints that Stalin is his political heir-apparent, an issue that had led to sibling rivalry with Alagiri, his elder son and Union Minister.

But, Karunanidhi's statement yesterday was the clearest hint ever, more so after the 2011 state Assembly electoral debacle which saw a growing clamour for Stalin taking over the party.

Ever since 59-year-old Stalin was given prominence in the party and elevated as Deputy Chief Minister in 2009, there have been indications that he will succeed Karunanidhi.

Alagiri had openly resented such hints, saying he would not accept anyone else other than his father as leader.

The Madurai strongman, who is two years elder to Stalin, had a couple of months ago made no secret about his unhappiness over selection of party functionaries in his home turf, particularly in the youth wing headed by Stalin.

Alagiri had said his recommendations were neglected by the party leadership, an indirect attack on Stalin.

What is the need for dragging a mutt's name in their conflict? Mutt is a place where sanniyasins occupy for doing good for the mankind irrespective of caste, religion and nationality. It has become the practice of dragging unnecessarily religion in their day to day political statements

at last old cunning fox Karuna has made its preference clear. by creating a public debate among party workers about his two sons Karuna ensured no third name is floated around because Karuna wanted to ensure that during his life time he will sit over the vast assets owned by DMK and after his time only his child should get control of the assets. of course Karuna has showed his leadership skills in retaining control of over 20% of voters irrespective of fact he is in power or outside, unfortunately he is approaching 90 and may not be there to see the fate TN politics when next assembly polls in TN in May 2016 and has identified Son Stalin as his successor. Today Karuna is the Fevicol keeping the cadres glued to DMK. Maran Bros will be with the Rulers of te day like typical business tycoons.

DMK is a business entity called M.Karunanidihi (P) Ltd. Everyone outside of the family is a paid servant of the company. Of course, there is no age to retire. Look at the 100+ Anbazhagan who has shamelessly stayed as no 2 for the last 75 years. The company will disappear soon after the chairman Mooka goes. Mooka has several wives and children. Everyone will fight for the majority stake in the company. However, the assets of the company will be taken over by another private limited company run by Amma.

The mutts heads are not appointing their sibling s or relatives as their successors.they will appoint only their true sishyas.Karuna and his family party will do this nonsense.
