Arvind’s army: Members of the Aam Aadmi Party during a protest in the city on Sunday | S S Sudharshan
In its first agitation organised in the State, Arvind Kejrival’s recently-launched Aam Aadmi Party on Sunday held a demonstration here condemning the political parties that voted in favour of the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Bill in parliament, allowing the entry of foreign players into retail trade in the country.
Around 200 members of the party gathered at the Memorial Hall and raised slogans opposing the Centre’s proposal.
The party’s national executive member Christina Samy said the protest in support of retail traders in the country and against foreign direct investment was the first political agitation conducted by the outfit in Tamil Nadu.
“We want to condemn all political parties that sided with the Centre and voted in favour of the FDI Bill in Parliament,” she said.
Claiming that the Centre’s move would affect the resources in the country, she said: “Henceforth, we will only be consumers. This is a challenge to human dignity and human economy.”
Samy, who is also the state coordinator of the party, accused the Centre of not trying for a consensus on the issue. “There were no discussions with the people, consumer associations or trade bodies.” Describing the move as anti-people, she said her party hoped to get a good response from the people for its stand.

Khoodos to Aam Aadmi Party to have taken the lead by taking the fight on FDI in Mlty Brand Rrtail to the Streets. The Govt and Pro FDI Retail Peoople fail to understand basic economic Law of Distribution and trickle down theory of wealth. Some of the steps like FDI in Multy Brand Retail actually creates Two INDIAS with a Large Gap between them by creating seperate worlds between them.Due to this limiting economic interaction between the Two INDIAS.For a Effective Distribution and Trickle down of wealth to take place in a Capitalist system there has to be Economic Interaction between the Haves and the Have Nots which scattered Retail System provides and not Monopolistic Retail Giants provide. Our precent Populations interest lies in Scattered retail trade and not Consolidated,Monopolistic retail Trade.Scattered retail Trade provides large Employments,Competitive Prices,Options for Farming Community,Acts as shock absobers in Inflatory Mkt Conditions !
