The People’s Movement Against Nuclear Energy (PMANE) has said that it would once again lay siege to Koodankulam Nuclear Power Plant (KKNPP) and that the date would be decided after December 10.
PMANE leader M Pushparayan said political parties and social movements supporting the anti-Koodankulam plant protests would block East Coast Road and National Highways between Chennai and Kanyakumari on December 10 demanding the closure of the Koodankulam nuclear plant.
The anti-Koodankulam protestors on Wednesday organised rallies from Idinthakarai and Kuthenkuly villages to mark the World Fish Workers’ Day. The rally from Idinthakarai was joined by PMANE leaders S P Udayakumar, M Pushparayan, Muhilan, Peter Milton and several villagers and fisherfolk while the one from Kuthenkuly was led by another PMANE leader M P Jesuraj. Both the rallies converged at Thomaiyarpuram where people offered flowers to the sea as a mark of respect.
