BJP cadre staged a demonstration during a grievance day meeting at the collectorate on Monday demanding action against the assistant head master of an aided school at Palayamkottai for allegedly kicking a Class VI student.
Accompanied by the student and his parents, the BJP cadre, led by their district organising secretary T V Suresh, raised slogans at the meeting. Suresh and the boy’s father Mehalingathurai submitted a petition to Collector R Selvaraj.
According to the petition, the victim, M Pirabuthurai, a Class VI student at the Palayamkottai school, was allegedly attacked by the assistant headmaster of the school. Though a case was subsequently registered against the assistant headmaster, he managed to secure an anticipatory bail. The attack was a violation of human rights, the petition claimed. The petitioners urged the Collector to dismiss the assistant headmaster from service and take steps to ensure that the student was given admission in another school to continue his studies.
