Erode Susi farm owner Guru detained under Goondas Act

District Collector V K Shanmugam on Sunday ordered the detention of Susi Emu India Private Limited owner M S Guru under the Goondas Act.

Erode EOW sources said that Guru, who also owned G-1 Emu Farm and Susi Land Promoter, was arrested on September 4 after many depositors picketed the head office of the Susi Emu Farm at Perundurai on August 6 in protest against the non-payment of incentives to them as assured by the company.

His firm had collected Rs 1.5 lakh as deposit assuring to pay `6000 as monthly incentive and Rs 20,000 as annual bonus to depositors, who  maintained 10 emu chicks supplied by the firm for three years. The firm had erected fencing and supplied feed as per the contract. But, the incentive amount was not given to the depositors.

EOW DSP Jagannathan said, ‘’EOW has received over 4000 complaints involving Rs 130 crore against Guru’s three firms and of which Rs 100 crore is related to Susi Emu Farm. We have identified Rs 12 crore assets in Erode and other districts by getting report from the Registration department.

Of the 30 immovable assets, many were in his and his wife Susila’s names and one is in the name of Amudan, a director of the firm. The government issued orders attaching all assets. As of now, no assets were found in other states. Complaints have been received against Susi firms in Namakkal, Salem, Coimbatore, Nellai and Tiruchy.Already, five cases were pending against Guru in Perundurai police station. One is related to the misuse of former President Kalam’s name and another is harassing his (Guru’s) wife Susila. The other three were related to attacking another emu firm owner and its workers.

In all cases, chargesheets were filed. Hence, a recommendation was made to the Collector to detain him  and it was approved by him.
