Erode EOW police have filed chargesheets against 3 emu firms so far in the TNPID special court at Coimbatore and the chargesheets against 19 other firms would be filed within two months, said Erode EOW DSP MK Jagannathan.

Talking to newsmen here on Sunday, he said that the EOW following complaints from many depositors against 22 emu, poultry and copra firms, has arrested over 61 persons. Among them, many have been granted bail and now 17 owners and directors of the accused firms were in prison.

The EOW had filed chargesheets against Susi, Sakthi and Amman emu firms so far. The chargesheet against other firms would be filed within two months as processing of all complaints is a difficult task. The deposits involved in all the firms totally would be over Rs 300 crore. The EOW has seized over 100 vehicles belonging to these firms, he informed.

Depositors who have not lodged complaints so far can send their petitions to police stations in their area or EOW office. The DRO, as competent authority under the TNPID Act, has applied in TNPID Court to auction over 12000 emu birds of such firms, which were under the possession of  the government. Once court order was received, the birds would be auctioned. The DRO will apply to auction the immovable assets of the firms soon.
