Industry hails Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's move to create jobs

The industry has welcomed Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s announcement in the Assembly on Friday that the government would sign an agreement worth Rs 20,925 crore, which has the potential to provide direct employment to over 36,000 people and indirect employment to over a lakh persons in the State.
Chairman of CII Tamil Nadu State Council R Dinesh urged the Chief Minister to consider forming a State Level Tamil Nadu Manufacturing Competitiveness Council. As per the Vision 2023 document, the contribution of manufacturing sector to the State Gross Domestic Product (SGDP) was 16.5 per cent in 2010-11 and was estimated to grow at 22 per cent by 2022-23.
