Tamil issue a global concern, Stalin tells UN

DMK Treasurer M K Stalin has handed over the resolutions adopted during the recent Tamil Eelam Supporter’s Conference (TESO) here to the United Nations and requested the international body to treat the human rights excesses in Sri Lanka as a “global issue” and not something confined to the island nation.
Stalin, accompanied by the party’s parliamentary leader T R Balu, handed over the resolutions to UN Deputy General Secretary Jan Eliasson in New York on Thursday, a release from the DMK said.
Stalin told Eliasson that the political opinion in India was unanimous on the fact that Tamils in the island nation would be able to lead a life of dignity.
