Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Tuesday directed authorities to immediately file a contempt petition against the Karnataka government for flouting the verdict of the Supreme Court by unilaterally stopping the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu.
“Karnataka government’s decision to stop the release of water to Tamil Nadu went against the federal principle of India as well as insulting the verdict of the apex court,” an official release here said and added that the contempt petition would be filed against Karnataka to get the due share of Cauvery water.
A decision to this effect was made at a meeting, chaired by the Chief Minister, in which PWD Minister K V Ramalingam, Chief Secretary Debendranath Sarangi and PWD Secretary M Saikumar participated.

This situation clearly establishes the incompetency of the central government. The centre should have dismissed the statement by now instead of waiting for the SC to act. When the executive fails to act, better they are dismissed for negligence of duty instead of looking to the judges. Pathetic situation and perhaps impotency to the core

Well done Jayalalithaa. Though she seems to have no diplomacy in dealing state to state matters, disputes, she proves her supremacy in dealing things, in a brave manner. The Supreme Court decrees, The words of the country's Supremo the Honourable Prime Minister of India, have gone to dogs, thanks for the Karnataka BJP ministers in the State and the Congress Ministers in the Centre. They are more Kannadians than Indians. The BJP chief minister shakes hands with the Congress MLAs and MPs and even the external affairs minister of India is in favour of Kannadians, going to centre and knocking at the door of the prime minister. But here in Tamil Nadu, the chief minister is least bothered about the opposition party MLAs of MPs, or even the Ministers of the DMK are not ready to go to Delhi. See the fate of Tamils. The leaders here are only Paper Tigers. Long Live indian democracy.
