Health officials on Saturday visited Jafiran Bibi, who is languishing in pain after a nurse cut her urinary tract during delivery four months back. Deputy Director of Health Department Ranjit Nayak and CDMO Benu Madhab Satpathy recorded her statement and promised her free treatment.
Jafiran (28) of Dagarpada village under Oupada block was on a dharna along with her family members demanding action against the erring nurse and compensation for her deteriorating health condition due to botched operation.
The CDMO said the hospital would bear the cost of treatment and action would be initiated against the nurse. “We are verifying why the nurse performed the operation and if the doctor was absent that time. The Deputy Director has spoken to the victim and he would brief the Government,” he said.
