Sector-7 Police on Wednesday arrested and forwarded to court an employee of the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), Dilip Mohanty, on the charges of kidnap and murder of a Class-VI student.
Reports said the boy Abhijit Pradhan (11) had gone missing on December 3 from Sector-6 locality and his body was found buried in the dried portion of river Koel near Hamirpur some days later.
Subsequently, the boy’s father P K Pradhan, also RSP employee, had accused Mohanty of killing his son. Mohanty was close to the boy’s family and frequented Pradhan’s house.
Police said the arrest came after circumstantial evidences and suspicious conduct of Mohanty after the crime indicated his involvement.
