Posting of Prasanta Kumar Majhi as IIC of Dharmasala police station has raised eyebrows. He had earlier been suspended in this particular police station on corruption charges.
Majhi was suspended for extracting money from cattle and bamboo-laden trucks along the NH-5 by then Jajpur SP Asit Kumar Panigrahi in April 2006 when he was the OIC of Dharmasala police station. He had served as IIC in the neighbouring Barachana police station in Jajpur district in the last four years. Jajpur SP Deepak Kumar said, “It is the decision of higher authorities of the government and I have nothing to do with the posting.”
