A couple, who were robbed by bike-borne miscreants in the City on Friday, faced a bizarre situation when they approached Commissionerate Police for lodging a complaint. The cops here could not decide on the police station under whose jurisdiction the incident occurred.
Sources said, Suresh Sahu and his wife Kalyani Sahu were robbed by two bike-borne youths near the State Assembly at around 7.30 pm. They were on their way home along the road connecting Rabindra Mandap Square to 120 Infantry Battalion when the bikers tried to snatch the gold necklace of Kalyani. The attempt resulted in a collision and Kalyani fell off the bike. The anti-socials snatched the necklace from her and sped away even as she was trying to gain control.
The couple then went to the police but the cops were confused over jurisdiction of the scene of crime since one part of the road comes under Capital Police Station while the other is under Kharavela Nagar Police.
The couple have been asked to come again on Saturday so that the police could decide the jurisdiction only after which a complaint can be registered. Meanwhile, no one has been arrested in this connection.
