11th August 2012 11:59 AM

CPM Politburo member M A Baby said that the party would oppose any attempt to destroy at the rich biodiversity of Nelliampathy and turn it to a concrete forest.

He was inaugurating the two-day state conference of the Kerala PSC Employees Union at Sopanam Auditorium here on Friday.

Reply to the public statement made by Government Chief Whip P C George that government could never win the Nelliampathy estate cases even if God appeared as counsel for the government, he said: “Whoever has encroached the forest land, even if it is satan, has to be evicted.”

On implementing the contributory pension scheme, Baby said that the government had presented a cooked-up figures to justify the implementation of the pension scheme in place of the statutory pension. The government version that more fund is spend on statutory pension than salary for employees is wrong, he said.

He said that contributory pension had miserably failed at all states where it was adopted and it had not fulfilled the desired results. It will essentially lead to financial crisis and a ban on appointments in government service. With the ban on appointments the Public Service Commission will lose its importance, he said.

Kerala PSC Employees Union president J S Rajesh presided over the function.
