Reserve conductor candidates to launch protest against PSC

KSRTC reserve conductor candidates have formed an action committee to protest against the decision of the Public Service Commission (PSC) to publish a single rank list based on three separate examinations conducted for the post. The Reserve Conductor Candidates Action Council (RCCAC) will launch various protest programmes against the PSC decision which, according to them, would affect their chances of getting the job.

The PSC used to conduct a single examination for the reserve conductor post for all districts. But this year, the examination was conducted in three stages. The exam for Malappuram, Alappuzha, Idukki, Wayanad, Kasargod and Ernakulam was held on May 12 while that for Kollam, Kottayam, Palakkad and Kannur was held on May 25. In the rest of the districts, the exam was held on June 9.

The candidates who attended the examination on May 12 allege that it was difficult as compared to the other two. “Since difficulty levels of the three exams were different, it is not fair to publish a single rank list based on them. The decision will affect the chances of the candidates from six districts,” said Gireesh M, chairman of the RCCAC, at a press meet here.

Similar committees were formed in Alappuzha and Ernakulam districts also. They alleged that the PSC was not giving importance to the reserve conductor examination which usually has the largest number of candidates.

RCCAC has decided to conduct a sit-in in front of the collectorate here raising the issue.
