Irate activists block IG’s car

The hartal called by the BJP in Alappuzha, in protest against the death of an ABVP activist, Vishal, affected normal life in some areas of Pathanamthitta on Tuesday. Some vehicles were damaged in stone-pelting on M C Road. Shops in Kuttor, Othera and Kotta were forcibly shut down by the protestors.

The funeral procession of Vishal was received at Muthur by sympathisers of the ABVP and the RSS. The official vehicle of IG Padmakumar, with police escort, was blocked by the protestors when it was passing through Muthur at the same time.

The activists raised slogans demanding action against the culprits behind the attack on ABVP activists.

Police had to intervene to ensure that no untoward incident took place.
