Clean Sports India(CSI), a movement started by former athletes to free the country’s sports arena from corruption, mismanagement and political interference, launched its Kerala chapter in Kozhikode on the World Olympic Day on Saturday. Former Secretary, Union Ministry of Sports, and convener of Clean Sports India B V P Rao officially inaugurated the launch event at a function held here.
Clean Sports India vehemently opposes the sports honchos who secured their positions using political influence and who have no connection with sports, said Rao.
The organisation, which marked its second anniversary on Saturday, was launched with an objective of creating an environment wherein sports federations are managed by former sports people, said Ashwini Nachappa, who presided over the meeting. Arjuna awardees Mercy Kuttan and Radhika Suresh have been selected as the office-bearers of the CSI Kerala Chapter. An Olympic Day seminar was also held on the occasion. International athletes Reeth Abraham, Vandana Shanbhag, Vandana Rao, and sports writer Sanil P Thomas were present.
