After being in a spot over the reported ‘’arrest’’ of Devender Singh alias Bunty chor in Bangalore and a swift denial by their Karnataka counterparts, Kerala Police on Friday put up a brave face saying its team in Karnataka will soon succeed in nabbing the thief.

‘’Our team in Bangalore is co-ordinating with Karnataka Police and we are confident of nabbing him at the earliest,’’ said DGP K S Balasubramanian denying reports that Devender is under the custody of Karnataka Police.

‘’The suspect’s arrest and detention are all a creation of the media. I have nothing more to add to that,’’ he said.

The police team led by Peroorkada Circle Inspector Prathapan Nair met Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister R Ashoka who assured them all help from his police force in tracing Devender.

‘’Our team is zeroing in on places in Bangalore where the suspect is likely to hide besides getting other vital clues. All this is being done in co-ordination with Karnataka Police,’’ said Thiruvananthapuram Range IG Sheikh Darvesh Saheb.

Meanwhile, the Mitsubishi Outlander car that Devender stole and later abandoned in Krishnagiri district, was being brought back to Thiruvananthapuram and will be produced in court for completing legal formalities, senior police officials said.
