Jagannathan passes away

Veteran cine-theatre artiste Jagannathan, 74, passed away at his residence here on Saturday after a prolonged illness.He was under treatment for kidney-related ailments.
Jagannathan, a native of Changanassery, began his film career in 1986 through Oridathu, directed by G Aravindan.He had earlier essayed a noted character in Avanavan Kadamba, a drama penned by Kavalam Narayana Panicker.
His noted films include Swagatham, Puravrutham, Vachanam, Theertham, Rajasilpi, Mazhavilkavadi, Sooryagayatri, Appu, Devasuram, Thachiledathu Chundan, Dasaratham and Pakalnakshathrangal.Jagannathan’s last film was Ardhanari.
A Popular TV ArtistJagannathan was an artist of ‘Thiruvarangu’, the theatre troupe founded by Kavalam.He had acted in a number of Malayalam TV serials at the fag end of his acting career.
His role in ‘Kairalivilasam Lodge’, a serial directed by Nedumudi Venu and telecast on Doordarshan, had earned him much accolades.
He is survived by wife Saraswathi Amma, daughter Rohini and son Chandrasekharan.Serial director Sivamohan Thampi is his son-in-law.The cremation will be held at Santhikavadam, Thycaud on Sunday at 11 am.
