Actor Samvrutha Sunil tied the nuptial knot with Kozhikode native Akhil Raj on Thursday.  The marriage ceremony held at the Vasava Cliff House in Kannur was attended by family members, friends and eminent personalities from Malayalam film industry.

The muhurtham was between 10.30 am and 11 am. Film directors Lal Jose, Ranjith, actors Kunchacko Boban, Ann Augustine, Meera Nandan and Aparna, and former Minister P K Sreemathi were present to grace the occasion. Akhil Raj, a software engineer with Walt Disney in California, USA, is the son of Perumpadappil Jayarajan and Preetha of Chevarambalam in Kozhikode. Samvrutha’s parents, hotelier K P Sunil and Sadhana Sunil, belong to Kannur.

It was in 2004 that Samvrutha made her debut in Malayalam cinema with the film ‘Rasikan’ opposite Dileep. As a person who stumbled on to the fantasy world of cinema, Samvrutha fared par excellence in her eight-year career. She has acted in over 40 Malayalam movies, some major ones being ‘Cocktail’, ‘Neelathamara’, ‘Diamond Necklace’ and ‘Arike’. Her latest hit is Lal Jose’s ‘Ayalum Njanum Thammil’ while her next movie, ‘101 Weddings’ directed by Shafi is set to be released. Samvrutha and Akhil had registered their marriage a few months ago to reduce the hassles in acquiring the visa. Samvrutha will fly to California with her husband on November 21.

The actress has decided to take a break from movies post the wedding. It has been reported that a wedding reception will be arranged for friends and close acquaintances at Hotel Le Meridian in Ernakulam on November 6.
