Commenting on the implications of the Bill proposed by the Woman and Child Development Ministry on making it mandatory to pay a fixed monthly salary to wives, novelist Dr SL Bhyrappa said that the government as well as leaders should consider the integrity and morality of the country before thinking of such laws.
He said the spirit of the Hindu law would erode further if the government brought such a Bill which is not suited to the Indian economy and culture.
“As there was no dharma and nyaya concept in the western countries, the economic system of such countries is collapsing. The proposed Bill which is suited for Europe and America, will affect the Indian family system,” he said.
Bhyrappa was speaking at a seminar ‘Arivu-Haravu’ on scholar K S Narayanacharya’s literary works at Sharada Vilas Centenary Hall on Sunday. He said that some people in the Centre are trying to bring the Bill as they are influenced by the West. “If the government brings in the Bill, the bondage between husband and wife will no longer hold,” he said.
Some people emphasise transferring 50 per cent of assets to the wife immediately after marriage. If so what about the fate of the husband’s family. Quantifying the property for the wife alone is not good, he said.

Irrespective of Caste / Releigion: Salary to wives is essential for their sustenance, credibility and integrity. One's financial background is an important measure of one's credibility in India.

A husband is responsible to take good care of his wife. Forcing a husband to PAY his wife a part of his salary seperately is just like converting the true relationship of a husband and wife to a trade/business. Even without this law, the husband would have to spend more than what is currently demanded - Household expenses, clothing, jewellery and other needs of his wife. This law along with many such laws are totally unethical. Just let me know the difference between a housemaid and a housewife,if this law is passed where both are being paid for their work.

How dare they interfere in the household affairs of a citizen ? As if they are daring the citizens as if all these scams were not enough to make congress forgotten history in next 5 years. This law is not only against hindu law, its against humanity. Destroying the trust between a husband and wife for votes can come in to minds of only the vicest of minds.

Apart from other non justifiabilities expressed by other readers, such payment ,in rare cases where the Government/s or other entity/ies in a secret network at the helm of affairs running a country misuse this as a secret payment at the cost of husbands even otherwise systematically resource –deprived targetedly by the System, to the wives for harassing, persecuting their husbands on secret behalf instrumentally/participatively/subserviently for the System- network and doing their dirty on the respective husbands to brow beat, intimidate, weaken the targeted husbands by virtue of their uniqueness ,integrityand resistance against extortion for biased agenda of the System etc. So such legislation for mandatory payment of salary becomes all the more anti-Human Rights, illegal secret clandestine interference in family, abetment and instigation to wife against husband, unethical, anti-national, anti-social etc. Rajendran Nambiar.O.G.
