Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah termed the division of elected members of the BJP along caste lines as a dangerous development.
Addressing the press here on Tuesday, he said that he has respect for Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, while accusing his predecessor B S Yeddyurappa of engineering the dissident activities within the BJP and blackmailing him.
“The Chief Minister with lack of administrative experience has failed to deliver and live upto people’s expectations. Many of the departments have been orphaned and officers are calling the shots in governance,” Siddaramaiah said.
Session on drought discussion
Siddaramaiah urged the government to convene an emergent Legislature session within three days to discus the prevailing drought in the state.
He said that the government should convene session as north and south Karnataka have slipped into drought and the situation would further worsen if there are no rains in the next couple days.
State BJP president K S Eshwarappa’s statement that the differences within the BJP will not impact governance came in for stick from Siddaramaiah.
“Governor H R Bhardwaj must monitor the developments and dissolve the government, directing political parties to seek a fresh mandate to end the confusion,” he said. He said that he and Congress leaders G Parameshwar and S R Patil apprised the Governor of the recent developments.
“There are no differences within the Congress; we are ready for elections under collective leadership,” he said.
‘Govt must solve it’s problems’
Bangalore: Ruling out any constitutional crisis, Governor H R Bhardwaj on Tuesday placed the onus of solving the political crisis in the state on the state government. “The current turmoil has to be addressed by the government. My job is to point out where it’s focus should be,” Bhardwaj said on the sidelines of a function. He said that CM D V Sadananda Gowda had assured him that the drought in the state was “not alarming”. Bhardwaj said, “He assured that mitigatory measures are being taken.”
