Endowments minister C Ramachandraiah on Saturday urged chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to subsidise the hike of diesel price and the rate of gas cylinders to relax the additional financial burden on the households.
“The incremental revenue generation, through taxation on diesel and LPG, needs to be diverted to subsidies,” he said.
In a letter to the chief minister, he said that the central government’s decision has put a burden on the common man and it is imperative for the state government to reduce the burden by extending subsidy for both the commodities.
“On an average a family needs 9 cylinders a year. If the state government allows 3 cylinders at the old rate of Rs 400 instead of Rs 750, it will relax a burden of Rs 1050 crore,” he said.

The Endowment Minister's proposal is praiseworthy and needs to be implemented not only in A.P. but also in other states. No harm in picking up a good suggestion or two from A.P.by other states. The Endowment Minister may please also consider a few suggestions reg.T TD Thirumala matters; (1) No.of special sewa tickets like suprabhatam seva, nijapada seva, asthadhala pada , thomala seva etc sold daily from the TTD Office in Himayathnagar Hyderabad needs to be clearly displayed on the entry gate board along with the Counter No. from which it would be sold; Confusion whether sold from one counter or from all counters and how many tickets sale on each counter. Elderly aged people have to be in the Q for long hrs from very early mornings; no separate Q or timings made for these limited number of tickets being sold nor for sr.citizens; so it is a long haphazard mixed Q as in case of tatkal tickets and genl..reseration tickets scenario observed all these months in Rly Booking office

(Contd...)so it is a long haphazard mixed Q as in case of tatkal tickets and genl..reseration tickets scenario observed all these months in Rly Booking offices.(2). Quota for these spl.seva tickets and other bookings for rooms, other darshans etc needs to be doubled at least at this TTD booking centre in Himayatnagar. (3). Change special entry gate timings for PH persons and sr.citizens at Thirumala to once in 3 hrs starting from 7 a.m. daily so that larger No, of aged and PH people could be cleared in more frequent time slots; at present timings are 10 a.m. 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. (4). Scouts given very high percentage preference for Srivari Seva services; needs review; (5). Please arrange frequent surprise sample checks of condition of orange colour scarfs, chatais (chapalu)etc given to srivari sevaks at TTD Thirumala; many times these are found very dirty and hence obviously carry many germs, bacteria etc.Scarfs Lots returned by srivari sevaks on completion of one week

(Contd...)Scarfs Lots returned by srivari sevaks on completion of one week or fifteen days duty schedules need to be sent to the laundry the same day; sufficient fresh new stocks of scarfs and good quality chatais (chapalu)need to be purchased.and kept(5). Some minimum qualification of Class VIII etc need to be enforced for srivari seva duty purpose; subsantial percentage of sevaks now are from villages and small towns with poor hygiene habits while using the facilities provided for these sevaks at Thirumala during their duty stints.
