Danam prays at ISKCON Temple

Following the ruckus at the Swayambhu Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple (ISKCON temple) at Road No.12, Banjara Hills, tight police security marked the Krishna Janmanshtami celebrations Friday.

While on Thursday labour minister Danam Nagender had barged into the temple along with supporters who resorted to violence, on Friday too the minister came, but in a totally different avatar.

The minister, accompanied by former minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir, brought along a small Krishna idol, placed it outside the temple and offered prayers.

The move was reportedly aimed at cooling the tempers which had become high Thursday after the minister abused policemen and locked the temple gates.

Over 100 policemen were deployed in an around the premises as Hare Krishna Movement representatives and other devotees thronged to take part in the celebrations.

But after the initial hours, police did not permit them to enter the temple and many of them offered prayers outside. In contrast with Thursday’s tense atmosphere, devotees took part in “Kolatam” at the temple.
