CM seeks fresh proposals on Polavaram R&R package

Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy asked the officials to send fresh proposals for preparing a special rehabilitation package for the oustees of the Polavaram project. He gave the directions following interaction with the oustees at Badarugudem village of Kunavaram mandal in Khammam district during the first day of Indiramma Bata programme on Wednesday.

He promised the oustees help but at the same time reiterated that the Polavaram project is essential for the irrigation of lakhs of acres of cropland in the state.

Earlier in the day, the chief minister ventured into the 600-metres PK-1 underground coal mine at Manuguru. Wearing the blue uniform of the coal miners, he reached the ninth level of the mine , at,600 metres, and interacted with the miners and the rescue team workers. Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) chairman and managing director Sudeep Battacharya, deputy speaker Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka accompanied him.

He came out of the mine after an hour and had lunch with the coal miners in a community lunch programme at Singareni guest house in Yellandu. Then, he left for Elchireddypally in Pinakapa mandal where he interacted with the students of the tribal residential school.

Kiran Kumar Reddy laid foundations for several developmental wworks and inaugurated the completed projects, of a total worth of Rs 686 crore. Addressing the public meeting at Elchireddypally in Pinapaka mandal, the chief minister promised a provision of additional fifty days under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGREGS). “With these additional work-days, 32,000 families in the district would be benefited,” he said. He also said that they had allotted Rs 2,500 crore for 3 years for the the farm mechanisation in the state.

The CM also announced the sanctioning of Rs 60 crore for the Pulusu Bontha project, Rs 40 crore for upliftment of Amepally and other villages and a 30-bed hospital for Manuguru. He also said of considering offering interest-free loans to the women.
