Warangal Urban superintendent of police Shyam Sunder has clarified that there was no truth in news reports being aired by some news channels that ban was imposed on girls moving with their faces covered. There are no restrictions on dress code, he said.
The SP, on Monday, said that they were checking women moving with their faces covered on two-wheelers following complaints that two women wearing scarves were resorting to chain-snatching.
He urged women to cooperate with the police and show their ID cards, licences and vehicle documents when asked by the police.
He said that helmets were compulsory for all those riding two-wheelers, including women.
In the wake of increasing chain-snatching incidents, all speeding vehicles are being seized, the SP added.
