The principal special judge for CBI cases on Tuesday reserved the orders till July 9 on a petition filed by V Vijay Sai Reddy, an accused in the Jagan Mohan Reddy’s assets case, to allow him to visit Delhi.
Vijay Sai Reddy was earlier granted conditional bail that prevents him from leaving the city. Reddy urged the court to exempt him from the condition on the grounds that he had to visit Delhi and consult his lawyers as he wanted to implead in the case that YSRCP honorary president YS Vijayamma had filed against TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu in the Surpeme Court.
“He had to engage and instruct lawyers with respect to the cases,” Vijay Sai Reddy’s counsel Ashok Reddy argued. The tour schedule of Vijay Sai Reddy would be intimated to the CBI as was done earlier when Reddy visited Tirupati and Shirdi with the court’s permission, the counsel said.
Asked to specify the dates of the visit to Delhi, the defence counsel told the judge that the visit depended on the hearing of the cases. He sought one month period for the trip.
CBI deputy legal advisor B Ravindranath opposed the plea citing that the case is still under investigation and Vijay Sai Reddy could tamper with the evidence. “Who will know if the petitioner visits Delhi or Jaipur or some other place,” Ravindranath contended.
