P Yadagiri Rao alias Yadagiri, who was arrested in mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy’s cash for bail scam, received Rs 9.5 crore from Janardhan Reddy’s brother, Somasekhara Reddy, to strike a deal with judge T Pattabhirama Rao to secure bail.

The ACB officials produced Yadagiri Rao before a magistrate in his house late Monday night and the accused was remanded to 14 days judicial custody.

In the remand report, the ACB said Yadagiri Rao has confessed to have received Rs 9.50 crore between May 11 to 18 in instalments. A part of the amount was given to former judge T Chalapathi Rao while Yadagiri kept the remaining amount with him.

Yadagiri told the investigators that he received the amount from Somasekhara Reddy, G Dasarath Rami Reddy and T H Suresh Babu. ACB sleuths said Yadagiri Rao was arrested from near Aaramgarh crossroads and during searches they found Rs 3.75 crore in the ‘pooja’ room of his  house.

Police said Yadagiri Rao purchased a car in the name of B Nagaraju, the brother of his driver, Ravi.  Rs 36 lakh was given to a person, N Saibaba, from whom Yadagiri Rao purchased a plot. Saibaba deposited the money in fixed deposits in IDBI bank at Secunderabad. After Yadagiri’s arrest, Saibaba voluntarily withdrew the amount and the same was seized.
