The rumblings over Congress's poor performance in the recent by-elections in Andhra Pradesh continued today, with some leaders calling for corrective measures after the coming Presidential election.
"The party's position in the state is not good. Efforts are on to improve the things. I am confident that Congress would retain power in 2014 Assembly elections. There may be a revamp in the organisation and the government after the Presidential election and the best thing would be done," Congress MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao said in Vijayavada today.
Union Minister of State for Human Resources, D Purandeswari, said that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and state Congress president Botsa Satyanarayana would consider the issues thrown up by the analysis of bypoll results.
Congress managed to win only two of the 18 Assembly seats where by-polls were held earlier this month, while the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) of Kadapa MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy won 15. TRS won one seat.
Some Congress leaders have blamed the poor coordination.
Actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi said earlier that better coordination was needed among the partymen.
