The Andhra Pradesh police on Saturday signed an agreement with the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) for implementing Crime and Criminal Tracking and Network System (CCTNS) -- a project aimed at improving connectivity and increase the crime fighting capabilities of the police.
According to Ravi Gupta, IGP, Police Computer Services and Standardisation, ministry of home affairs (MHA) has sanctioned Rs 109.84 crore to the state police for implementing the project. Gupta said the project consists of two phases -- pilot phase which will go-live in 52 weeks and the final project would go-live 10 weeks after the pilot project. The total duration of the project is five years.
Under the CCTNS project, the existing software of eCOPS (e-computerised operations of police services) will be upgraded to ‘’Enterprise eCOPS’’ and integrated with the software being developed by the ministry of home affairs at the Centre.
‘’The connectivity will connect each and every police unit from police station to the national headquarters for fast and easy data sharing with regard to crime and criminals,’’ Ravi Gupta, nodal officer of the project said.
