Lured by a chocolate, a nine-year-old boy walked into a death trap and was found dead at Oddivarikunta of Bhagyanagar in Ongole town on Saturday morning. The boy, reported missing since last night, was allegedly murdered by his father who abandoned his wife and children following a family dispute.

According to Ongole Taluka Circle Inspector I Srinivas, the boy, Guggilla Chaitanya Krishna of Bhagyanagar, was kidnapped last night while he was playing with his younger sister Kavya in front of their house. An unidentfied person had offered a chocolate to the siblings.

While Kavya refused the offer, Chaitanya accepted it and went along with the person despite his sister’s plea to accompany her back home.

As Chaitanya failed to return home for a long time, his mother G Sujatha lodged a complaint with the Ongole Taluka police on Friday night and suspected the hand of her husband, G Srinivasa Rao, behind the abduction of the boy. Based on her complaint, the police launched a search for the boy but found him dead.

Sujatha, a native of Ongole was married to a small-time contractor Srinivasa Rao of Addanki 10 years ago. Two years ago, the couple parted ways following family disputes and Sujata has since been residing at Bhagyanagar in Ongole Town.

The police said that the kidnapper strapped the hands and mouth of Chaitanya Krishna, who was in his school uniform, with a plaster. The child died of suffocation. Several injuries and blood marks were found on the body of the deceased. The body has been shifted to RIMS for a post-mortem examination.

The murder of the innocent boy moved everyone in the locality as  many relatives and locals consoled the family members.

The police, who suspect the boy’s father Srinivasa Rao, are also investigating the cases from other angles.
