Congress groups clash in Owk

Mild tension prevailed in Owk mandal headquarters in Banagapalle constituency on Friday when followers of MLA Katasani Ramireddy and former MLA Challa Ramakrishna Reddy clashed during voter enrolment for the upcoming cooperative societies’ polls.
Two persons were injured in the clash. Police picketing has been arranged in the town to prevent further trouble.
Although both leaders belong to the Congress, supporters of both leaders competed with each other to get enrolled as voters for the polls as Friday is the last day for enrolment.
Followers of the former MLA attacked those of Katasani and two persons, G Subba Reddy and G Pulla Reddy, suffered injuries.
On information, police, led by Dhone DSP Tirumaleswara Reddy, reached the place and calmed down the groups.
Owk SI Ramasubbaiah said a case has been registered against ex-MLA Challa Ramakirshna Reddy’s followers for injuring Katasani’s men.
