PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana has appealed to the opposition parties not to obstruct the passage of the SC and ST sub-plan bill in the state Assembly.
The Congress government’s commitment to the welfare of the downtrodden sections of society was proved once again with the introduction of the bill which aimed at according statutory status to the subplan, he told reporters here on Friday.
Terming it a historic measure, he said no other government had ever contemplated such a bill, leave alone implement it.
“Everyone should feel proud of the bill. Congress will demand a similar sub-plan for BCs, minorities and other suppressed classes. Power is not important to Congress which is committed to the welfare of the people of the state.’’
He alleged that the opposition parties, which were in power in the past, had never thought about the welfare of SCs and STs but were ridiculously talking about them now.
