Infant rescued from being sold

The Integrated Child Development Services officials rescued a 10-day-old female baby from being sold after counseling the parents.
ICDS officials said, B Durga Bhavani gave birth to a female baby on Nov 9.
Bhavani and her husband Ashok were worried about the future of their daughter. The couple is dependent on the financial help from Bhavani’s parents.
After learning that Ananthalakshmi was desirous of adopting a child, the couple contacted her. Ananthalakshmi told the parents that she wanted to send the baby to her issueless brother.
Ananthalakshmi paid Rs 10,000 to Bhavani and Ashok after reaching an agreement with them.
On a tip off, ICDS officials swung into action and warned Ananthalakshmi that a case would be filed against her if she failed to hand over the baby to its mother. She returned the baby to the mother in the presence of ICDS officials.
