5 days of Assembly logjam cost State Rs 10 crore

23rd September 2012 09:03 AM

Rs 2 crore a day. That is the amount spent on conducting the five-day monsoon session of the state legislative Assembly which ended without transacting any business.

Thus, a total of Rs 10 crore out of the Rs 100 crore allocated in the annual budget for Assembly session has gone down the drain. In the five days the Assembly did nothing but adopt a condolence resolution.

Incidentally, the daily expenditure of Rs 2 crore excluded the expenses incurred by the departments. This reflects poorly on  the government which preaches financial discipline and austerity measures, said an  official.

Leader of the House N Kiran Kumar Reddy spoke just for three minutes and leader of the opposition N Chandrababu Naidu for five minutes. The maximum time utilised was by  TRS floor leader E Rajendar (11 minutes), followed by CPM’s J Ranga Reddy (6 minutes).
