The U.S. Open women's singles final has been postponed until Sunday because of rain in the forecast.
The match between Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka was originally scheduled for Saturday night, when the National Weather Service is predicting an 80 percent chance of rain. Tournament officials will announce the rescheduled match time later Saturday.
Weather permitting, this will mark the fourth time in the last five years the women's final has been played on Sunday, with 2010 the only year in that period the championship was decided on its originally scheduled day.
The men's semifinals started more than an hour late on Saturday because of rain. If they complete both matches and the men's final remains on schedule, this would be the first time since 1996 that both the men and women play on Sunday.
