Karunuday in last four

Seventh seed Hyun-Woo Nam of  South Korea shocked top seed VM Ranjeet and advanced to the semifinals in the Indian Oil Servo Futures tennis tournament at the SDAT Tennis Stadium on Thursday. Nam  scripted a 6-3, 6-1 win. However, India had reasons to smile as eighth-seed Karunuday Singh accounted for third seed Antoine Escoffier of France. Second-seed Saketh Myneni, too, progressed, defeating compatriot N Vijay Sundar Prashanth 6-1, 7-5. South Korean Suk-Young Jeong, who dispatched Chieh-Fu Wang, completes the semifinal line-up.

JEEVAN TOP SEED

India’s Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan, who plays for Gandhi Nagar Club, has been given the top billing in the third leg of the ITF men’s  Futures  tennis tournament from July 30 to August 4 at the club’s courts. The tournament will also feature prominent players in the Futures’ circuit such as Antoine Escoffier (Fra), Suk-Young Jeong (Kor), Chieh-Fu Wang (Tpe), Hyun-Woo Nam (Kor) and Perakiat Siriluethawattana (Tha). The qualifying rounds will be played on July 28 and 29 and the winners will get 18 international points.
