MCC, Vaikom, defeated Sahara SRM, Ernakulam, by 11 runs in the opening match of the Havells Cup All-Kerala Floodlight Softball Cricket Tournament at St Albert’s College Ground, Kaloor, the other day.
In other matches, Krate-n-Barrel CC, Kannur, Shark CC, Alappuzha, and Gandhinagar CC, Ernakulam, posted victories.
The title clash of the tournament is slated for Sunday.
Earlier, actor and Celebrity Cricket League star Rajiv Pillai inaugurated the Rs 2-lakh prize money event, being organised by Kochi Cricketers.
Havells India Limited DGM P A Sunny, singer Madhu Balakrishnan, Kerala Cricket Association joint secretary T N Ananthanarayanan, Ernakulam District Cricket Association (EDCA) secretary Jayesh George, EDCA vice-presidents Edwin Joseph, and D Shaiju Mon were among those present.
