St. Vincent’s Matriculation HSS ‘A’ defeated AVM MHSS 37-21 to move into the semifinals of the SVS inter school basketball tournament here on Wednesday.They will take on PS Senior Senior Secondary School next.
The latter gained a walk over. For the winners, Ranjit Francis, Harris Antony and Renalton played well while S Subash impressed in the defence. In the other quaterfinals Sethu Bhaskara MHSS beat Loyola MHSS 52-42 while St Vincent’s MHSS ‘B’ got the better of Le Chatelier. The meet was inaugurated by N Amarnath, former Indian basketball team skipper in the presence of Rev Dr C Wilson, Provincial superior — Southern Indian Province.
TN Ranji squad
L Balaji will lead Tamil Nadu against Karnataka in the Ranji Trophy Group ‘B’ match to be played from Nov 9 to 12.

In another match, medium-pacer Soujanya Nath captured 5 for 20 to star in Hyderabad’s thumping nine-wicket win over hosts Andhra. This was the second successive win for Hyderabad.
