Humpy downs Ju, takes lead

Second seed Koneru Humpy (6 points) jumped into lead with an emphatic victory over Ju Wenjun in the seventh round of the FIDE Women’s GP in Ankara here on Sunday. The Indian’s fifth victory gave her half a point lead over her nearest rival Anna Muzychuk. After gaining advantage in the opening from the white side of Kings Indian Defence (g3 system), Humpy won an exchange on the 19th move. Humpy converted the material advantage to victory after 72 moves.
Results (7th round): Koneru Humpy (Ind, 6) bt Ju Wenjun (Chn, 4); Zhao Xue (Chn, 4.5) drew A Muzychuk (Slo, 5.5); M Socko (Pol, 1.5) lost to T Kosintseva (Rus, 3.5); B Yildiz (Tur, 2) drew K Ozturk (Tur, 1.5); V Cmilyte (Ltu, 4) drew Ruan Lufei (Chn, 4.5), A Stefanova (Bul, 1.5) drew B Munguntuul (Mon, 3.5).
