Four crude bombs found in Lucknow court premises

Four crude bombs were recovered in the civil court complex here Thursday, police said.

The bombs, called 'sutli bombs', were recovered from a flask that was lying unclaimed at a staircase near the chamber of the district court.

A bomb disposal squad was immediately called.

The bombs were crude in nature. Somebody wanted to play mischief in the court complex and create panic, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), R.K. Chaturvedi, told IANS.

A case was registered in the Wajirganj Kotwali and probe has been ordered. Police have also tightened security around the district courts and the high court premises.

Lucknow, Varanasi and Faizabad courts in Uttar Pradesh were rocked by six powerful serial blasts Nov 23, 2007, afternoon within a span of 25 minutes.

While the explosion at Lucknow left a few injured, three consecutive blasts claimed 11 lives in Varanasi and left 42 people injured. Two successive blasts which occurred in Faizabad killed four people and maimed 15.
