Guwahati: Another molestation case accused arrested

Police today arrested another accused in connection with the molestation of a girl here on July 10, taking the total number of those held in the case to 15.

The accused, Rubul Ali, was arrested by a team of Guwahati City police from Baruajani area in Kamrup (Rural) district.

Ali, an autorickshaw driver, was arrested from his home by a team of Guwahati City Police led by Senior Superintendent of Police A P Tewari and brought here.

Altogether 15 of the 17 identified in the incident have been arrested so far including, the prime accused Amarjyoti Kalita, who was arrested in Varanasi on July 23.

Kalita was brought to Guwahati yesterday and will be produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate this evening.

The eight arrested, including the reporter of a local TV, Gaurav Jyoti Neog, who filmed the incident, have been remanded in judicial custody.
