In a shocking incident in Guwahati, a teenaged girl was molested, groped at and beaten up by a mob. The girl was attacked when she was returning home from a party at a city bar at the Christian Basti area. The teenage girl allegedly had an altercation with a young man who had passed an obscene remark at her.
A video of the incident has now gone viral on the Internet showing 20 people assaulting the woman and trying to strip her. Meanwhile, the police have identified four people, and three people have been arrested so far.
Speaking to CNN-IBN, Assam Director General of Police (DGP) Jayanto N Choudhury confirmed the arrest of three people, saying the police would talk to bar owners to know about the issue. "We will speak to the bar owners to solve the problem. We have to address the problems outside the bar also," he said.
Referring to the video, he further said, "The video has provided vital evidence about the accused people," adding that a chargesheet would soon be filed in connection with the case. Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi termed the incident as unfortunate and said it should not have been allowed to occur.
He also directed the district administration and police to monitor all bars, clubs, discos and hotels and raid them at any time if there was report of any untoward incident. Chairperson of Assam State Commission for Women Neera Barooah said the commission had taken suo motu cognizance of the incident and will decide on next course of action based on police action and report. SHAME FOR INDIA....don't know why we don't have any STRICT LAW on this. WE should come up with the law of Dubai on this. As females has to suffer on this and India will keep deciding about it's law, till the next world comes. Law of "Shoot at site" should come, once you take this law and get active atleast for 2 cases, guarantee you before happening for 3rd case jerks will think 10 times before doing this. Females are really UNSAFE IN INDIA, and Govt. is responsible on this, because they are just doing govt job with No action No law, because this is India.
