West Bengal Governor M.K. Narayanan Thursday dubbed as "wrong" the removal of Kolkata Police chief R.K. Pachnanda in the wake of the killing of a policeman in a clash earlier in the week.
"There may be several reasons why a police commissioner is removed but if he has been removed for what has happened in the last few days, then quite clearly there is something wrong and we need to look at it," Narayanan told media here.
"I don't know the reason why the police commissioner has been removed. But if it has something to do with what has happened in the last few days, I think it is something that has to be looked at very carefully," he said.
Referring to Pachnanda's transfer, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said:"I had to take such a strong action because the criminals were not arrested in time. If they were in the other side of the world even they should have been arrested".
Tapas Chowdhury, a sub-inspector attached to the special branch, was shot from close range while trying to control the clashing students Tuesday. Twelve people have been taken into custody.

Tapas Chowdhury, a sub-inspector attached to the special branch, was shot from close range. He was not having wepons ! By whose order ? The shoter dared to go near him with a revolver. So , that creature was knowing that the police do not have wepons with them. Who informed them ? Now many respectactable citijens are angry because one policeman is killed. In Nandigram, one police officer sadhucharan Chattopadhyaya was killed in the month of February 2007. In the month of March, 14 farmers died in police firing. So policeman was eliminated first, road was dug, panchayet leader sankar Samanta was eliminated, Maoists were very much present in Nandigram with weapons and providing training. Police firing was unfortunate, but it has occurred as an effect of many other unfortunate incidents occurred beforehand. Already sill commission told that dinhata police firing is ok. So, what is wrong with Nandigram firing? Can the present govt or any govt arrange rasagullas for road-diggers?

It’s an administrative matter and its government to take such calls irrespective of situation and I don’t think Governor role in this apart from can express his views in appropriate forum if he gets an opportunity. If he can take action or summon CM if opposition parties submit memoradom in this regard or completely law and order collapsed draws natural intervention of governor and that has been guaranteed in constitution. CM herself is a law graduate and much experienced politician and from past more than year CM Of Kolkata knew what kind of decisions to take in order to control administration mechinary to ensure the safety and security of the people and servents.
