Being vice president of a party doesn't mean that a person becomes intelligent, Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said Wednesday in a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
"Anyone promoted from a general secretary to vice president (of a party) does not become intelligent," Parrikar told reporters here.
"Limitations and the capacity of a person are visible in any position, even without power," he said.
Scion of the Gandhi family, Rahul Gandhi was appointed vice president of the ruling Congress party amidst much hype at the recently concluded Jaipur 'chintan shivir' (introspective meet) session of the All India Congress Committee (AICC).

The CM of Goa is clearly an intellectual, from the quality of his comment and not the position of his chair. The same cannot be said of R.Gandhi, if the same logic is applied to the latter. What amazes me is the heights of sycophancy that 'senior' cronies within the Congress party have lowered themselves to. I really do not believe that they are as stupid as the encumbant they have voted for. Unfortunately the result of their collective actions proves that Indians in general have failed to stand on their feet. When will R.Gandhi appear on a televised public debate in real-time to hold his stand? Anyone can be coached to deliver a well-orchestrated speech. There is no dearth of good speech-writers or delivery coaches in Delhi. The proof of the pudding for Obama was when he and Romney went live on debates moderated live, on the floor. When can Indian politicians stand up to their opposition and have a healthy debate, bereft of IAS advisors?

Honestly how many party presidents are intelligent? Is Sonia intelligent; are Mulayam, Mayawathi, Lalu, Gowda, Karunanidhi, etc are intelligent? What is the contribution by these people except loot? When the party president himself/herself need not be intelligent, where is the necessity of VP being intelligent. Have we ever seen anyone of this crowd speak intelligently or discuss national issues? This is the fate of our country. As long as we are a caste based society, intelligence has place!
