16th December 2012 01:08 PM

On the second day of his three-day visit, Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Saturday met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at his 7 Race Course Road residence here, where the two sides discussed issues related to peace initiatives and security.  Sources said Malik had a 15-minute meeting with Singh and was accompanied by Pakistani High Commissioner to India Salman Bashir. After the meeting, Malik said that his nation has extended an invitation to the Prime Minister for a visit and that the people of his country would be disappointed if Singh doesn’t accept it.

“The people there (Chatwal, where Singh was born) want to see that a boy who was from there has become the PM of a nation and a global leader,” he said.

Describing the meeting with Singh as “very good”, he said the PM asked him about the progress in the 26/11 trial and that he had committed to sending the Pakistani judicial commission to take forward the case.

Malik also met National Security Adviser Shiv Shankar Menon after his meeting with the PM.
